Admission Procedure

Admissions to Diploma Program

The common admission to 1st year Diploma for Government / Aided Polytechnics and for private polytechnics who have surrendred their seats will be conducted by Department Of Technical Education (DTE) in co-ordination with Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore(KEA) and National Informatics Centre(NIC). The admission process usually starts with the issue of the notification for admission by the Directorate in leading news papers of the State. The advertisement generally appears in and around the dates of announcement of Secondary School Leaving Certificate results conducted by the State Govt. It may be some time in the last week of April or First week of May or around that period. The announcement is also made on the website http://dte.kar.nic.in and www.kea.kar.nic.in of the Directorate. The polytechnic websites will also carry the details of admission notification in their respective sites.

Admission Procedure

The prescribed Application Form along with the Information Brochure will be available in KEA & DTE websites www.kea.kar.nic.in & www.dte.kar.nic.in respectively. Candidates shall download the Application Form and Brochure from the website and fill up the Application as per the instructions.Admission to diploma courses is based on merit in each category of reservation. Out of the total seats 50% of the seats are reserved for various groups of the society. Remaining 50% of the seats are allotted based on the marks scored in the SSLC for technical Courses. All the Details of admission to Diploma courses are available in the Admission Brochure.From 2017-18, Government has given permission to Department of Technical Education to follow "Online Interactive councelling " admission process.

Eiligibilty

  1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  2. For Technical(Engineering) Courses:should have passed Karnataka S.S.L.C or equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.

  3. For Non-technical (Non-Engineering)Courses: a) Commercial Practice and Apparel Design & Fabrication Technology / Modern office Management Should have passed Karnataka S.S.L.C or Equivalent Examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate. b) Library Science and Information Management Should have passed Karnataka P.U.C-II or Equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.

  4. For both Engineering & Non-Engineering, the candidate should have completed atleast five full academic years of study in Karnataka between 1st Standard and qualifying examination.

  5. Candidates who have passed the 10th Standard Exam conducted by CBSE/ICSE and other states 10th Standard candidates shall produce Eligibility Certificates obtained from the Secretary, Board of Technical Examinations, Palace Road, Bangalore – 560 001 at the time of document verificatioion & online application submission process.

Eligibility for admission to Evening Polytechnic.

In addition to the eligibility mentioned in Sl. No.01,02.04 and 05 above The candidate should have minimum three years of experience in respective Technical field after passing SSLC as on the 01-07-2017 and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) given by the employer must be produced at the time of admission to part-time diploma course in the prescribed format.

Lateral entry admission to 3rd semester diploma:

Candidates who have passed SSLC or Equivalent Examination with 35% of marks in aggregate and should have passed JTS (3 years course) / ITI (2 Years Course) recognised by Govt. of Karnataka are only eligible for seats reserved under JTS / ITI quota. Admission will beconsidered only for the candidates coming under JTS quota and ITI quota for Diploma First semester courses.

AICTE Norms and Requirements

 

Admission to Lateral Entry to Second Year Course(s)

Lateral Entry to Second Year Diploma Course(s) shall be permissible up to a maximum of 10% of the “Approved Intake” which shall be over and above, supernumerary to the “Approved Intake”, plus the unfilled vacancies of the First year as specified in the Approval Process Handbook.

Lateral Entry to Second Year Under Graduate Degree Course(s) in Engineering and Technology/ Pharmacy Programme shall be permissible up to a maximum of 10% of the “Approved Intake” which shall be over and above, supernumerary to the “Approved

Charging excess Fee than the Fee prescribed by the concerned State/ Fee Regulatory Committee

       The Institutions shall have to announce all Fees such as Tuition Fee, Examination Fee, etc. on their Web Site transparently and adhere to the same strictly. No Technical Institution shall collect any other Fee (Payment/ Amount) from the students, in addition to the Fee fixed by the State/ Fee Regulatory Committee. If any Institution does not follow the said guidelines,the Institution shall be liable to punitive actions from any one or more of the following by the Council:

a. Twice the total Fee collected per student and the excess Fee collected shall be refunded to the student

b. Suspension of approval for NRI and supernumerary seats, if any, for one Academic Year

c. Reduction in “Approved Intake”

d. No admission status in one/ more Course(s) for one Academic Year

e. Withdrawal of approval for Programme(s)/ Course(s)

f. Withdrawal of approval of the Institution

g. Not eligible to receive any grant from AICTE

Refund cases

  • In the event of a student withdrawing before the start of the Course, the entire Fee collected from the student, after a deduction of the processing Fee of not more than ₹1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) shall be refunded by the Institution. It would not be permissible for Institutions to retain the School/ Institution Leaving Certificates in original.

  • In case the vacated seat is not filled, the Institution should refund the Security Deposit and return the original documents.

  • The Institution should not demand Fee for the subsequent years from the students cancelling their admission at any point of time. Fee refund along with the return of Certificates should be completed within 7 days
